ALL THAT VERDON! ALL THAT FOSSE! DO40 presents The Verdon/Fosse Legacy

Wednesday, March 23rd, 7 pm,  St. Luke’s Theater, 308 West 46th St., NYC

Featuring the Verdon/Fosse Legacy, LLC and a gaggle of Broadway gypsies to celebrate the lives of Gwen Verdon and Bob Fosse and their remarkable contributions to Dance and the Broadway Musical.

Wednesday, March 23rd, DO40 brings together gypsies from many generations (and many who are DO40 members) to celebrate all things Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon at St. Luke’s Theater, 308 West 46th Street, 7pm.  Featured throughout the evening:  Nicole Fosse, Valarie Pettiford, Harvey Evans, Dana Moore, Lloyd Culbreath, Gene Foote, George Marcy, Diana Laurenson, Dick Korthaze, Pam Sousaand Mimi Quillin.  DO40 members Kevin Winkler and John Gilvey are both more than half way through writing their books on this dynamic duo and they will discuss how they came to write about them in a special panel with Nicole Fosse, and a Q & A during the segment.   Winker’s book is titledBig Deal: Bob Fosse and Dance in the American Musical, and Gilvey’s, Brains and Talent: The Life and Allure of Legendary Entertainer Gwen Verdon.  We are working with the Fosse/Verdon Legacy, LLC to bring you more information on their workshops, and present a moving history, through the eyes (and feet!) of those who knew them best: Broadway dancers.

DO40 has a unique history with Fosse and Verdon, having presented two panels in 2007 (The Women of Fosse and The Men of Fosse) and a 2010 event, I’m not Lola, about Gwen Verdon.  This will be a unique stand-alone evening, as we pay it forward to the next generation and show how the Verdon/Fosse Legacy, LLC will continue to provide guidance, education and a sense of history to those just starting their journey.

Dancers Over 40 is dedicated to preserving the History, Legacy and Lives of our creative community, while sharing the knowledge with the younger generation just beginning their careers. To that end, the event will be videotaped and donated to the Jerome Robbins Dance Collection at Lincoln Center’s Library for the Performing Arts.

Tickets will be on sale at the St. Luke’s Box Office in March, and on telecharge as well.  Tickets: $45 for non-members ($65 for premium seats); $25 for members of Dancers Over 40 with discount code.
