BROADWAY BY THE YEAR

BROADWAY BY THE YEAR: 1965 & 1978, proved to be another valuable edition in the long-running series.

Eight top Broadway performers, assisted by the Broadway By The Year Dance Company, brought to life selections from the musicals of those seasons.

Having seen all but one of these shows represented in their original productions, I was already familiar with the scores. The singer-actors were uniform;y excellent, with Ethan Slater and Betsy Wolfe standing out for me.

The 1965 1st Act was more successful to me than the 1978 2nd Act, but that was mostly a function of the material available, although I did miss seeing something from ON THE 20TH CENTURY.

Scott Siegel did his usual great work, as writer, director and producer. He should continue the series until we run out of years to celebrate.
