THE FLYING DOCTOR BY MOLIERE (OVER AND OVER AND OVER)

THE FLYING DOCTOR BY MOLIERE (OVER AND OVER AND OVER) descends on Central Booking on the Lower East Side in June

flexCO, a new theater company dedicated to presenting plays in an entirely new, fresh, and relevant way, launches with the world premiere THE FLYING DOCTOR BY MOLIERE (OVER AND OVER AND OVER), adapted from Moliere by the new theater company flexCO and directed by Michael Doliner.

THE FLYING DOCTOR BY MOLIERE (OVER AND OVER AND OVER) is an explosion of the rarely-performed Moliere work in which the play is performed multiple times in quick succession. What happens to the actors, the characters, the audience, and even the text itself as each experiences the work and morphs throughout the process? It will never be the same any two nights. Featuring live music, champagne, literature, acrobatics, and (of course) a flying doctor.

The Flying Doctor, Moliere’s first play, is a whimsical farce about a woman, Lucile, who is betrothed to one man but in love with another. Her lover Valere concocts a scheme to marry her in secret by having his dimwitted servant masquerade as a doctor who orders her to the country, where they can marry in secret.

Lower East Side art gallery Central Booking is transformed into a unique theatrical venue for the play, a nod to the early days of commedia when Moliere would have to perform his plays in the tennis courts of Paris.

The cast is a dynamic mix of young actor/musicians and features Robyn Adele Anderson (from the acclaimed band Postmodern Jukebox); Kat Blackwood; Patrick Brady; Kathryn Fray (Pushing Daisy for MuSE); Jessica Greenwald; Sara Jecko; and Josh Wolonick (Othello at American Theatre of Actors).

The design team includes Christopher Swader and Justin Swader (scenic design) and Ellen Pyne (costume design). Jeff Cox is the arranger, orchestrator and music director. The production stage manager is Spencer Whale.
